Climate change ritual

Convinced that the burden of climate change should not be carried or tackled individually, I designed a ritual, since all major human transitions used to accompanied by rituals, and Climate Change has none:
Armed with plaster casts and recording equipment I visited a number of people to talk about climate change. In the safe environment of their home, we talked about what climate change did to them personally, while I wrapped their shoulders in plaster casts. At the end of the conversation the plaster mold, and the symbolical weight, was lifted off their shoulders.
These molds were layered with clay, baked, and exhibited as ceramic sound boxes for the audio from the conversations.

The arrangement of the exhibition inquired you to move your own shoulders in between the ceramic versions. As the audio document played on different tracks, you could try to make a choice between the sound clips but were always interrupted by voices from others.

Next to it I designed a matching self-portrait. An ice bar of 30x30x181 cm, melting away in a small bucket.
