Elderly Rail Catering

In behalf of a school assignment we had to make a product concering the elderly. The extent to which elderly people were mainly seen as a burden “because so few could contribute” triggered me to form a concrete application for them in our consumer society. Given that the carts of the Dutch rail catering looked a bit like walkers, I converted a walker into a functioning rail catering station. This allowed seniors to perform a task once more, “while they also got to see a lot”.
Although I was satisfied with the broader discussion that arose in our class about the “place of the elderly”, I was most affected by the product test that I had to conduct with the target group. Full of love and sincerity, they assisted me in designing a product for which I actually deserved their spite.
